Extreme Adventure Rentals aims to entice
customers to experience Emery County thrills

Off highway vehicles can be a huge investment and unless you are an enthusiast you might find yourself wondering if the investment for a four-wheeler, snow mobile or wave runner is worth the return.

The problem for many people comes down to a simple question of whether purchasing one of the machines is worth it when you consider the amount of time you will be able to devote to using it.

For those who face such a dilemma Extreme Adventure Rentals just might be the answer to your problem. Business partners Darrin Hurdsman and Scott Larbum teamed up to create the rental company with just such people in mind.

"There's a lot of people who could weigh their options between renting and buying. For one monthly payment when you buy you could rent three times a year," Labrum said.

Extreme Adventures Rental started out renting snowmobiles and in its first year the company did well. Today the company has six snowmobiles, four wave runners and 12 four-wheelers for rent and is looking to increase the number of four-wheelers in the near future.

Labrum and Hurdsman are looking to take the company to the next level and have recently hired Jonathan Fauver of Castle Dale to manage the company.

"This is something we've been doing out of the garage and now we want to expand on it a little to be able to offer a service that is needed. That's why we brought John on board," Labrum said.

Most of the renters of the equipment have been people who live in the Emery and Carbon area, but the company is planning to market its services to the increasing number of visitors to the area.

To that end, the company is planning to offer guided tours both in the mountains and the San Rafael Swell.

Extreme Adventures Rentals operates out of ProRehab in Castle Dale and one of Fauver's first projects has been the development of a web site for the company. The web site is still under construction, but the company can be reached toll free at 866-596-RIDE or 381-RIDE. Once the web site is operational Fauver plans to utilize it as a marketing tool to draw visitors to the area.

"We want to convince visitors who may already be vacationing around Moab to take one more day of vacation and experience what we have here. We have a unique opportunity here that you can't get anywhere else," Fauver said.
